Informed Ministries App — Terms of Use
Version 0.1 · Prepared 7 September 2026
These Terms of Use ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Informed Ministries (ABN [insert ABN]) ("Informed Ministries", "we", "us", "our"), which operates the Informed Ministries mobile and web application (the "App"). By creating an account or using the App you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your personal information and forms part of these Terms.
1. What the App is, and what it is not
The App is an independent spiritual formation resource for Adventist believers. It provides Bible reading, reading plans, devotional series, Sabbath School lesson material, writings from Adventist pioneers and Ellen G. White, and small-group tools for Bible study.
The App is not a counselling, medical, mental health or crisis service. Some content in the App speaks to grief, anxiety, loss, illness and death from a Scriptural perspective. That content is offered for reflection and encouragement only. It is not professional advice, and it is not a substitute for care from a doctor, psychologist, counsellor, pastor or crisis service.
If you are in immediate danger, call 000. If you are in distress or having thoughts of harming yourself, contact Lifeline on 13 11 14 (Australia) or your local emergency or crisis service. We may show these contacts in the App; we cannot monitor conversations or respond to emergencies.
The App is also not an official service of the Seventh-day Adventist Church or the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. Official Sabbath School lesson material is provided through a third-party service (Adventech) and reproduced with attribution; the App itself is independently operated by Informed Ministries.
2. Who can use the App
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are under 18, you may use the App only with the consent and supervision of a parent or guardian, and your parent or guardian agrees to these Terms on your behalf.
Kids mode is a restricted experience for younger children within a parent's or guardian's account. It does not create a separate account for the child, does not provide access to community features, and does not collect information from the child beyond what is described in the Privacy Policy. The parent or guardian is responsible for supervising a child's use of the App.
Small groups and video rooms are for adults only. You must be 18 or over to create or join a small group, and you confirm this when you do so. We may remove any person from a group, or close a group, if we reasonably believe this requirement is not met.
3. Your account
You are responsible for keeping your login details private and for everything done through your account. Tell us promptly at [support email] if you believe someone else has accessed it.
You may delete your account at any time from within the App or by contacting us. Deleting your account removes your personal data as described in the Privacy Policy.
4. Content in the App
Scripture and third-party material
Bible text, Sabbath School lessons, devotional series and other material in the App come from a range of sources. Some are in the public domain (for example the King James Version, and writings by Ellen G. White and Adventist pioneers first published before 1929). Others are used under licence or with permission (for example Sabbath School lesson content via Adventech, and Our Daily Bread devotionals with the permission of Our Daily Bread Ministries). Each is credited where it appears.
You may read, listen to and share content from the App for personal, non-commercial devotional use. You may not copy, republish, sell or distribute licensed content outside the App, or remove attributions or copyright notices.
Editorial notes
Short notes labelled "A note from Informed Ministries" are written by Informed Ministries. They are our own reflections and are not statements of official church doctrine.
Accuracy
We take care with what we publish, but we do not warrant that any content is complete, current or free of error. Scripture is the authority; the App is a tool for reading it.
5. AI-generated content
The App uses artificial intelligence in two ways.
Answering your questions. Features such as Ask the Bible and the Sabbath School Study Tutor generate a response to what you type.
Generating study material. When you use the study generator (the sparkle icon) on a topic page, or open features such as Explain This Verse, Deep Dive chapter context, cross-references, daily topic reflections, or a reading plan marked as AI-generated, the material you see is created by AI — either on your request or in advance for that topic or passage.
For all of it, you acknowledge that:
- AI content is framed from a Seventh-day Adventist understanding of Scripture. We instruct the AI to answer in keeping with Adventist teaching, including on subjects such as the Sabbath, the state of the dead, and the sanctuary. That framing is a setting we have chosen; it does not make any response an official statement of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, and people from other traditions should read responses with that in mind.
- AI content is generated automatically and may be inaccurate, incomplete or mistaken, including on matters of Scripture, history and doctrine — and may at times fail to reflect Adventist teaching despite that framing.
- AI content is not the teaching of Informed Ministries or of any church, and is not pastoral, theological, medical or legal advice.
- A study or lesson generated for you is not reviewed by a person before you see it. Test it against Scripture, and check it with a pastor or trusted teacher before teaching it or sharing it with others.
- AI features are not a means of contacting a person. They cannot recognise or respond to an emergency.
Where a screen shows AI-generated content, the App identifies it as such. Content that is not AI-generated — Scripture, Sabbath School lessons, licensed devotionals, pioneer and Ellen G. White writings, and notes labelled "A note from Informed Ministries" — is identified by its source where it appears.
6. Small groups, video rooms and your conduct
Small groups are private spaces created by members of the App for Bible study. The person who creates a group (the "host") controls who joins, can remove members, and can end a video session.
When you take part in a group, you agree to:
- treat other members with respect, and keep to the group's purpose of Bible study;
- not share another member's name, image, words or invite code outside the group without their permission;
- not record video sessions without the clear consent of everyone present;
- not use groups to harass, threaten, deceive, solicit money from, or exploit anyone, or to promote any commercial venture;
- not post anything unlawful, sexually explicit, hateful or abusive, or anything you do not have the right to share.
Anything you post in a group is your responsibility. We do not review group content before it is posted and do not moderate video sessions live. Hosts and members can report conduct to us, and we may remove content, remove people from groups, or suspend or close accounts where we reasonably believe these Terms have been breached. Video sessions are not stored by us.
7. Your content
Reflections, journal entries, notes and anything else you write in the App remain yours. You give Informed Ministries a limited licence to store and display that content in order to provide the App to you (and, for group posts, to other members of that group). We will not publish your private content or use it for advertising.
8. Availability and changes
The App is provided free of charge and depends on third-party services (including hosting, database, video and content providers) we do not control. We do not promise the App will be available at all times or without interruption, and we may change, suspend or withdraw features at any time.
We may update these Terms. If we make a material change we will tell you in the App before it takes effect. Continuing to use the App after that date means you accept the updated Terms.
9. Your rights under Australian law
Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot be excluded by agreement. The limitations in section 10 apply only to the extent permitted by law.
10. Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law:
- The App and its content are provided "as is". We exclude all warranties, conditions and representations not expressly stated in these Terms.
- Informed Ministries, and the people who run it, are not liable to you for any loss or damage (including indirect or consequential loss) arising from your use of, or inability to use, the App or its content, including reliance on any content or AI response, or from the conduct of any other user.
- Where liability cannot be excluded but can be limited, our liability is limited, at our option, to re-supplying the relevant service or paying the cost of having it re-supplied.
You agree to indemnify Informed Ministries against any claim or loss arising from your breach of these Terms or your conduct towards other users.
11. Ending your use
You can stop using the App and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these Terms, if required by law, or if we withdraw the App. Sections 4, 7, 9, 10 and 12 continue to apply after your access ends.
12. General
These Terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia, and you agree to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of its courts. If any part of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest continues to apply. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and Informed Ministries about the App.
